Although the internet and software was invented for practical capital ventures (probably, lol), it has been adopted by artists since its very conception to further investigate their art and cinema-making practices. The internet is equally as free to contribute to as it is to access, making accessability the core of a lot of currently practicing artists. All of the pieces included in this program either use/condone open-source software, encourage re-interpretations of their own projects, or have re-interpreted existing pieces on the internet.

Structure is also an important formal element in all of these pieces. With browsers making structure an unavoidable obstacle, projects like "My Boyfriend Came Back from the War" and "GENTRY" use it to shape their narratives. "Now he's out and everyone can see" is not contrained by a browser, but uses the convention of remixing inherent to the internet and anonymity of social media as the foundation for its story.

Although absent of a narrative, "HF Critical Mass software applied to la revoluciĆ³n" and "Distant Feeling(s)" stress that the softwares being used are open sourced. They cite this as an important part of their mission statement and practices/performances.
